Dunlop Race-Used Karting Rear Wheel & Slick Tyre — Elf Masters Karting, Bercy, Paris, December 1993The Last Competitive Race of Ayrton Senna's LifeHand Signed by Ayrton Senna & Alain Prost in White Marker

Of all the pieces of motorsport memorabilia that exist in the world, few can lay claim to the extraordinary historical weight carried by this item. This Dunlop slick karting rear tyre, mounted on its original aluminium wheel, was raced by Ayrton Senna at the inaugural Elf Masters Karting event, held at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy on 18–19 December 1993 — an occasion that would become, in the cruellest twist of fate, Ayrton Senna's final competitive race.

Five months later, he was gone.

The Signatures

Applied in white marker directly onto the rubber tyre surface, the piece bears Ayrton Senna's bold, flowing signature, accompanied by the year and the inscription "Bercy" — a precise, event-specific dedication that places this tyre unambiguously at one of the most emotionally charged moments in motorsport history.

Alongside it, equally in white marker, appears the unmistakable signature of Alain Prost — Senna's greatest rival, his most complex adversary, and the man who stood on the opposite side of one of sport's most legendary and passionate feuds. That both men signed the same piece makes this a document of reconciliation as much as of competition.

The Kart

The competitors raced identical arrive-and-drive specification karts on the indoor circuit constructed within the Bercy arena — compact, highly responsive machines fitted with Dunlop slick tyres, demanding the precise, aggressive, and deeply physical driving style that Senna himself described vividly after the event: "You have to drive sideways because go-karts are small, short-wheelbase and very quick to react. You are always sideways at some stage of the corner... In a kart, you have to be hard and aggressive, but also precise."

The Event & The Race

The Masters Karting was organised by former Formula 1 driver Philippe Streiff, with the goal of bringing together the best performers from all disciplines of motorsport — from go-karting to Formula 1 — and having them compete together in a spectacle for the fans. The stage was an indoor circuit in the Paris-Bercy Sports Palace.

Teams were formed with a Formula 1 driver and a karting rookie. Two races were held, and the second was the one that truly captured the public's imagination, since in the first race both Senna and Prost had difficulties with their karts.

In race 2, Andrea de Cesaris dominated much of the race, but always with Senna and Prost on his heels — the fight for second place between the former McLaren teammates intense for much of the event, with Senna coming out ahead after some great battles.

The battle saw Senna overtake Prost and challenge De Cesaris for the lead, before he was forced to retire with mechanical problems. Prost managed to pass De Cesaris and go on to win. For Ayrton Senna, it would be his last competitive karting race. Indeed, it would be his last competitive race of any kind. He would lose his life at Imola the following May.

The image of Senna and Prost — former enemies, reluctant friends — dicing wheel-to-wheel on a tiny indoor kart circuit in Paris that December evening, watched by a passionate crowd, remains one of the most poignant vignettes in all of sport.

A Note on Rarity

Signed Senna material from the Bercy event is extraordinarily scarce. This tyre is not merely signed — it is race-used, event-specific, dual-signed by both protagonists of the greatest rivalry in Formula One history, and connected to the final chapter of Senna's competitive life. There is simply no category of motorsport memorabilia more resonant or more rare.

An irreplaceable artefact. A piece of history. Estimate: Upon application.

McLaren MP4/4 Wheel Nut
1988 Monaco Grand Prix – World Championship Season
With Official McLaren Certificate of Authenticity

An extraordinary and highly significant mechanical artifact from one of the most dominant seasons in Formula One history: an original McLaren wheel nut used on the Marlboro McLaren MP4/4 during the 1988 World Championship campaign.

The MP4/4, driven by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, achieved an unparalleled level of dominance, securing 15 victories from 16 races and delivering Senna his first World Drivers’ Championship title. The present wheel nut is documented as originating from the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix—widely regarded as one of the most iconic performances of Senna’s career.

The component is professionally mounted within a bespoke presentation frame and accompanied by an official McLaren International Certificate of Authenticity, confirming its use on the MP4/4 during the 1988 season. The certificate verifies the car model and competition context, providing direct factory provenance.

As a race-used mechanical element from the MP4/4—arguably the most celebrated Formula One car ever constructed—this wheel nut represents an authentic and tangible fragment of Grand Prix history. Mechanical components from championship-winning cars of this stature, particularly those supported by factory documentation, are exceptionally scarce and highly sought after.

A museum-worthy relic from the golden era of Formula One, uniting mechanical purity, championship pedigree, and official McLaren provenance.

Lot Title:
Race-Used Ayrton Senna McLaren MP4/5 Windscreen – Monaco Grand Prix 1989 – TAG Heuer Livery – With Neil Trundle Provenance

Description:
An exceptional and highly evocative piece of Formula 1 history, this original race-used windscreen comes from the McLaren MP4/5 driven by Ayrton Senna during the legendary 1989 Monaco Grand Prix weekend—one of the most iconic circuits and defining races in motorsport.

The windscreen, bearing the period-correct TAG Heuer branding, was used by Senna en route to a dominant performance, securing pole position and victory at Monaco—further cementing his mastery of the principality’s streets. Constructed from clear Perspex with its original black lower trim, the piece exhibits authentic race wear, including light scratches, surface marks, and patina consistent with period use, enhancing both its authenticity and display appeal.

This example represents a “medium length” configuration, consistent with Monaco specifications, where aerodynamic and visibility adjustments were critical for the tight, technical circuit. The shape, mounting points, and trim details align with known MP4/5 race components from the era.

Provenance:
Accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity from Neil Trundle, Chief Mechanic to Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost at McLaren during this period. The letter confirms:

  • Use by Ayrton Senna in the 1989 Monaco Grand Prix (MP4/5)

  • Standard post-race removal and retention practices by team mechanics

  • Period-correct characteristics and configuration of the windscreen

Such direct team-issued provenance from a senior McLaren figure of this stature is exceptionally rare and significantly elevates the importance and collectability of the piece.

Condition:

  • Original race-used condition

  • Visible wear including scratches, minor scuffs, and aging to decals

  • Missing upper rubber trim (not uncommon due to period reuse practices, as noted in the letter)

  • Structurally sound and well-presented on a custom display mount

Display:
Mounted on a bespoke wooden plinth with descriptive plaque, accompanied by the original certificate and period reference imagery—ready for immediate exhibition in a private collection, gallery, or museum setting.

Significance:
Artifacts directly linked to Ayrton Senna—particularly from Monaco, where he earned the title “King of Monaco”—are among the most coveted in Formula 1 collecting. Components from the dominant McLaren-Honda era (1988–1991) are especially rare, with very few surviving outside institutional or team archives.

The love of beauty, has arguably the Zurini. . What book to look, it's essentially the spirit of an automobile, retaining only its elegance and power. Zurini, born in 1942, a schoolboy Prévert: studies short, head to the window he enjoys running, it becomes photographer of great price, published and exhibited. Begins, more than thirty years, with apparent ease, a career happy. In making good in his hands the tools of the stonemason, he pursued an obsessive and relentless pursuit of perfection volumes, drawing diagrams of simplified passionately, holding the rib horizontal lines, patiently sharpening edges, polishing and re-polished surfaces as if to give the material a transparent soul, carefully monitoring the fonts, the gold brick, until a mysterious form, the synthetic expression of a car and a dream of dazzling speed. These cars fluids seek the caress and restore the tactile tenderness of the creative act. Zurini despise the foil, and yet excels in the golden glow of bronze. Simultaneously, he uses the finest materials, the block of marble and granite, technical exercise dangerous. The stone has a meaning, it is charged in office, always the same. With the volume, the veins appear from all angles. The sculptor to harmonize and balance the whole. At maturity, Zurini can undertake all enlargements of the monumental work for which he has the temperament and the breath, the ... jewelry, because his hands have the delicacy of a blacksmith of the goldsmith.

At maturity, Zurini can undertake all enlargements of the monumental work for which he has the temperament and the breath, the ... jewelry, because his hands have the delicacy of a blacksmith of the goldsmith.

1985 Lotus 97T Renault Turbo – Rear Sidepods (Ayrton Senna, Car #12)

Description:
A rare and historically significant pair of rear sidepod assemblies from the legendary Lotus 97T, driven by Ayrton Senna during the 1985 Formula 1 World Championship season. These components form part of the car’s lower rear bodywork, positioned directly behind the side-mounted radiators and just ahead of the rear suspension.

Constructed in Kevlar-reinforced carbon fiber, each piece retains its original John Player Special black and gold livery, complete with KONI shock absorber sponsor logos and hand-applied chalk markings reading “97T #2 / 12 A.S.” — denoting the car type (97T), chassis number (#2 of 4 constructed for the 1985 season), driver initials (A.S.), and race number (12).

Both parts exhibit authentic race wear, with visible cracking, discoloration, and impact traces consistent with track use during the 1985 campaign — a season that marked Senna’s first year with Lotus and his first two Formula 1 victories (Portugal and Belgium).

The internal structure shows period-correct aluminum reinforcement panels and composite repairs, typical of in-season maintenance by Lotus engineers. These characteristics confirm the originality and use of these components on a factory-entered Team Lotus 97T Renault Turbo, one of the most visually iconic F1 cars of the turbo era.

Provenance:

  • Originate from Lotus chassis 97T/2, campaigned by Ayrton Senna in 1985.

  • Hand-inscribed markings correspond to known workshop identification conventions used by Team Lotus during the mid-1980s.

  • Retains period-correct patina and sponsor detailing.

Condition:

  • Original race-used state; not restored.

  • Surface cracking, heat staining, and edge wear throughout.

  • No structural repairs post-factory.

Dimensions: Approx. 110 cm × 60 cm each
Material: Kevlar and carbon composite with aluminum reinforcement
Notable Features: KONI branding; handwritten team markings; visible turbo-era construction; matching pair.

Significance:
Authentic Lotus 97T bodywork from Ayrton Senna’s debut season represents a cornerstone of modern Formula 1 history. Items with clear provenance to Senna’s 1985 campaign are exceedingly scarce and highly sought after by collectors and museums alike.
