Chrome-plated metal and marble, comprising a stylised kart driver finial above a rectangular marble riser, the front face applied with a laurel-wreath medallion depicting a karting figure, mounted on a marble base bearing an engraved plaque reading "Michael SCHUMACHER / KART & EVENT-CENTER" beneath the facsimile of Schumacher's signature logo; the reverse of the riser boldly signed in black marker by Michael Schumacher

Height 6¼ in. (16 cm)

Kerpen, Germany, circa 2000

PROVENANCE
Issued by the Michael Schumacher Kart & Event-Center, Kerpen — the karting facility built in the driver's home town, adjacent to the track where a young Schumacher first raced under his father Rolf's tutelage. Trophies of this type were presented to competitors at events held at the center following its opening, and this example was subsequently signed by Michael Schumacher in person.

CATALOGUE NOTE
Few venues speak as directly to the origins of a champion as the karting circuit of Kerpen, where Michael Schumacher's career in motorsport first took shape. This trophy, issued under the banner of his own Kart & Event-Center, connects two threads of the Schumacher story: the grassroots karting culture that produced a seven-time Formula One World Champion, and the driver's enduring personal investment in the sport that made him. The autograph to the reverse, rendered in Schumacher's characteristic bold hand, was applied directly to the piece rather than to an accompanying certificate, lending the trophy an intimacy uncommon among race-worn or promotional Schumacher material more typically encountered at auction.

CONDITION
The chrome elements retain good original lustre with light surface wear commensurate with age and handling; the marble is stable with only minor edge nicks. The autograph is strong, bold and fully legible, with no fading noted.
