A Bridgestone Kart Tire "Ehrenpreis" Trophy, Signed and Dated by Michael Schumacher, 2000

A tubeless Bridgestone racing kart tyre, retaining its original tread and moulded sidewall lettering, mounted upright on a rectangular beech-wood plinth applied with a brushed-steel plaque bearing the facsimile Schumacher signature-logo above the inscription "Michael SCHUMACHER / KART & EVENT-CENTER / Ehrenpreis"; the tyre sidewall boldly signed by Michael Schumacher in silver marker and dated "2000"

Height 8¼ in. (21 cm)

Kerpen, Germany, dated 2000

PROVENANCE
An "Ehrenpreis" — honorary prize — awarded under the Michael Schumacher Kart & Event-Center banner, Kerpen, at the height of Schumacher's third and fourth World Championship-winning seasons with Ferrari. The form of the trophy, a genuine competition tyre rather than a cast or moulded figure, situates it firmly within the working vocabulary of karting, the discipline in which Schumacher's own career began on tracks a few kilometres from this site.

CATALOGUE NOTE
Where conventional trophies abstract the sport into metal and marble, this example does the opposite: it is the sport itself, presented as prize. The use of an actual Bridgestone racing slick — the marque that would go on to supply Schumacher's Ferrari during his championship-winning campaigns of the early 2000s — lends the piece an unusual material honesty, and situates it precisely at the intersection of grassroots karting and top-flight Formula One with which Schumacher's public image was so closely identified. The autograph, applied directly to the tyre's sidewall in bold silver marker and clearly dated "2000", anchors the piece firmly within that peak period of his career, rather than as a later or retrospective signing.

CONDITION
The tyre presents in stable, well-preserved order, with light surface bloom and minor perishing consistent with age to the rubber; tread wear appears minimal, suggesting little or no track use prior to mounting. Mould text to the sidewall, including the Bridgestone marque, remains crisp and legible. The plinth and plaque are in good order throughout. The autograph and accompanying date are strong, bold and fully legible, with no notable fading.
