1983 DEREK WARWICK Original Race-Worn Helmet GPA SJ Model
Regular price
DEREK WARWICK Original Race-Worn Helmet Toleman F1 Team • 1983 Season GPA SJ Model
An exceptionally rare and historically important original race-worn helmet used by Derek Warwick during the 1983 Formula One World Championship, while driving for the Toleman F1 Team—a formative period in both Warwick’s career and the team’s rise within Grand Prix racing.
This helmet is a classic GPA SJ full-face model, finished in Warwick’s distinctive early-career livery: a deep blue upper section contrasted with a white lower band, highlighted by a bold central white stripe featuring the Union Jack, proudly denoting his British nationality. The visor carries period-correct sponsor branding, most notably “Candy” across the brow and “MAGIRUS” on the lower section—both key Toleman partners during this era.
The helmet is further personalized with “DEREK WARWICK” lettering and Union Jack insignia on the sides, matching period race photography from the 1983 season, including appearances at circuits such as Spa-Francorchamps. The overall configuration, decals, and construction are entirely consistent with Warwick’s documented race use during his debut full F1 campaign.
Importantly, the helmet shows clear and honest race wear, including surface scuffs, scratches, and patina to the paint and visor—strong indicators of authentic period use. The visor displays age-related discoloration, and the shell carries marks consistent with competitive conditions of early-1980s Formula One. These characteristics significantly enhance its authenticity and desirability among serious collectors.
Derek Warwick is one of Britain’s most respected racing drivers, with a distinguished Formula One career spanning teams such as Toleman, Renault, Brabham, and Arrows, before achieving major success in endurance racing, including Le Mans victory (1992). Helmets from his early Toleman years are particularly scarce, representing the foundation of a long and celebrated motorsport career.
A highly collectible and visually striking piece of Formula One history from the turbo era—offering strong provenance, period accuracy, and unmistakable presence.

1983 JEAN-PIERRE JARIER Original Race-Worn Helmet with Integrated Radio Ligier
Regular price
JEAN-PIERRE JARIER Original Race-Worn Helmet with Integrated Radio Ligier • Formula One World Championship, circa 1983 Signed and Inscribed
An exceptionally rare and historically important helmet from the turbocharged era of Formula One, this original race-worn GPA helmet was used by Jean-Pierre Jarier during his tenure with Equipe Ligier in the early 1980s, most notably around the 1983 season.
Constructed by GPA—France’s premier helmet manufacturer of the period—the helmet is presented in Jarier’s instantly recognizable Ligier livery. The design features a dark green crown and lower section contrasted by a white central band, accented by period sponsor branding including Gitanes across the visor strip and Elkron to the chin. The lower edge carries the driver identification jp jarier, a detail consistent with period race usage.
The helmet retains its original visor assembly and fittings, along with a period-correct integrated radio communication system, including external connector—an increasingly scarce feature that firmly establishes its use within the professional Formula One environment of the time.
Of particular significance is the presence of a hand-written dedication and signature to the side: “A mon Toto Gilles”, signed by Jarier. This deeply personal inscription is widely understood to reference Gilles Villeneuve, Jarier’s close contemporary and friend, adding a poignant and emotional dimension to the piece that elevates it beyond a standard race-used artifact.
The exterior displays extensive and authentic race wear, including paint chips, surface abrasions, and rubber marking consistent with high-speed competition. The patina across the shell—particularly to the crown and visor area—serves as compelling evidence of genuine period use. The interior remains intact with original lining and manufacturer label, showing appropriate age and use.
Jean-Pierre Jarier was a respected and accomplished Formula One driver, competing for leading teams including Shadow, Lotus, Tyrrell, and Ligier. His time with Ligier during the early 1980s coincided with one of the most dynamic and dangerous eras in the sport’s history, making surviving race-used equipment from this period particularly scarce and desirable.
A museum-quality piece of Formula One history, combining authentic race use, period radio equipment, and a rare personal dedication—offering exceptional provenance, emotional resonance, and collector appeal.
