A one-piece, two-layer Nomex race suit in Marlboro red, made by Stand 21. The Dijon firm has dressed much of the Formula 1 grid since the late 1970s and remains one of the few FIA-homologated race-suit makers in the world.
The suit carries the period Stand 21 woven label with "Homologation FIA FAN" and "Fait en France" markings, full Marlboro branding to the chest and thigh, and McLaren team identification. The original interior size and care label is still attached and legible. Every detail of the construction matches genuine team-issue suits of the era.
The 1984 Season
1984 was the high point of Niki Lauda's career. Driving the McLaren MP4/2 with TAG-Porsche turbo power, alongside teammate Alain Prost, Lauda won his third and final World Championship by half a point. It remains the closest title fight in Formula 1 history and one of the defining seasons of the turbo era.
Rarity
Drivers' race suits were produced in very small numbers each season, far fewer than gloves or helmet components. Lauda material from his championship years seldom appears on the market outside institutional or long-held private collections.
